Privacy Policy

Short version: The only personal information this Site collects is what you voluntarily send through the contact form, newsletter, application form, or by email — your name, contact details, and whatever you write in your message. It's used to reply to you and, if you become a client, to serve you. It is not sold. It is not shared with third parties for marketing. You can ask to see it, correct it, or have it deleted at any time.

Who we are

This privacy policy applies to realtorpeterlaw.com (the "Site"), operated by Peter Law, Sales Representative at HomeLife Golconda Realty Inc., Brokerage, registered with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). For the purpose of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Peter Law acts as the organization responsible for the handling of personal information collected through the Site.

What we collect

• Information you provide directly. When you use the contact form, email us, book a call, subscribe to updates, or complete a rental application, we collect the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, message, employment or income details you volunteer for a rental application, and any preferences you note (e.g., neighbourhood, budget, timeline).
• Client information. If you become a client, we may collect additional information required by law for real estate transactions — identity verification under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), signed representation agreements, offers, and related documents.
• Automatic technical information. Like most websites, we collect basic technical data through server logs and analytics — browser type, general location (city or region), pages viewed, and time on page. This does not personally identify you.

Why we collect it

We collect personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. Specifically:

• To respond to your questions and requests.
• To provide real estate services if you engage us as your representative.
• To meet legal, regulatory, and RECO obligations that apply to real estate professionals in Ontario.
• To send newsletter updates you have opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• To understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it (aggregate analytics, not individual tracking).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use it for advertising to you or share it with unrelated third parties for marketing.

Your consent

By submitting the contact form, emailing us, booking a call, subscribing to the newsletter, or otherwise sending information through the Site, you consent to the collection and use of that information for the purposes described above. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us — subject to any legal or regulatory requirement to retain records (see "Storage & retention" below).

Third-party services

The Site uses a small number of third-party services that may process limited personal or technical data on our behalf. Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum information required for them to perform their function:

• Vercel — hosts the Site and provides basic server logs.
• Formspree — routes contact-form submissions to Peter's email.
• Cal.com — powers the "Book a call" scheduling widget.
• beehiiv — delivers the email newsletter to subscribers.
• SingleKey — used with your express consent for tenant screening when you complete a rental application through the Site.
• Google-owned services — if used, e.g., embedded fonts or optional analytics.
• Embedded video providers (YouTube, TikTok) — when rental tour videos are embedded, the video platform may set its own cookies as soon as the player loads.

Peter may also refer clients to third-party providers (for example, internet or utility providers, mortgage professionals, or SingleKey) and in some cases receive a referral fee. See the Disclaimer for more on affiliate and referral relationships. Referral does not change how your personal information is handled on the Site.

Cookies & analytics

The Site uses a small number of first-party cookies for basic functionality (remembering your language preference, for example). Any analytics used are aggregate — we see how many people visit which pages, not who you are. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the Site may not work as expected if you do. Third-party embeds (calendar, videos, newsletter) may set their own cookies once you interact with them.

Storage & retention

Personal information is stored on servers operated by our service providers, which may be located in Canada or the United States. We keep contact-form submissions and email correspondence only as long as needed to serve the inquiry or, if you become a client, as required by RECO and applicable law (currently a minimum of six years after the end of the client relationship). After that, records are destroyed or de-identified.

Security & direct email

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), strong passwords, access controls, and reputable service providers. No system is perfectly secure. If you have reason to believe your interaction with the Site is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

Direct email note. Emails sent directly to Admin@RealtorPeterLaw.com travel across the public internet and are not end-to-end encrypted. Please do not send highly sensitive documents (government ID, banking, mortgage pre-approvals, offers) as unsolicited email attachments. If you need to send those, ask us first and we will arrange a secure delivery method.

Past-deal information

"Recent" and "Past Deals" on the Site display information about transactions Peter has participated in as a licensed representative — typically intersection or address, month of closing, sale or lease price, and short commentary. This is derived from records that are publicly available (for example, sold data distributed via TRREB / MLS® systems in accordance with the applicable rules) or shared with the express permission of the client involved. Property photos are displayed with the permission of the photographer, seller, or brokerage that supplied them.

If you were a party to a past transaction and would like your information or a photo removed, please contact us and we will respond promptly.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you.
• Access that information (subject to limited exceptions).
• Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate.
• Withdraw your consent to further use of your information, subject to legal and contractual obligations.
• Unsubscribe from any newsletter or marketing email at any time (use the "unsubscribe" link in the email).
• File a complaint with us — or, if unresolved, with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the most recent change was made. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
